Nicholas Barrett – Founder of The Yoga Tree of Life

Nicholas Barrett, founder of The Yoga Tree of Life, has been passionately sharing the gift of yoga for over 26 years. Since 2012, he has dedicated each year to training yoga teachers, offering depth, insight, and heart-centered guidance rooted in decades of practice.

His teachings are grounded in the Iyengar and Sivananda traditions, combining precision in alignment with a deep reverence for the spiritual roots of yoga. Nicholas has journeyed to the motherland of India 14 times since 1999, where he studied extensively with authentic Yoga Masters—an experience that continues to infuse his teachings with wisdom, presence, and compassion.

At The Yoga Tree of Life, Nicholas offers a welcoming space for all—whether you’re stepping onto the mat for the first time or are a seasoned yoga teacher. His approach emphasizes alignment, the intelligent use of props, and an inclusive atmosphere where everyone is supported on their path.

What to Expect on a Yoga Retreat

Each day of the retreat is thoughtfully designed to create balance, renewal, and deep connection—both within and around you.

Morning Practice (3 hours)
Our mornings begin with subtle yet energising pranayama (yogic breathwork) to awaken your life force, followed by a guided meditation to center the mind.
We then move into a dynamic Yang Yoga practice, with a strong emphasis on alignment to support safety, build strength, and cultivate vitality.

Afternoon Practice (2 hours)
Afternoons are dedicated to rest and rejuvenation. These sessions include restorative postures, Yin Yoga, and gentle stretches to release tension and nourish the nervous system.
You’ll also be guided through calming Yin-style pranayamas and a closing meditation to deepen your inner stillness.
